Raffaella Mangiarotti

Raffaella Mangiarotti

Slender and delicate, her objects transmit a sense of subtle lightness. Originally from Pavia, Raffaella Mangiarotti graduated with a degree in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano with Tomás Maldonado and took her first steps in the world of design at the studio of Marco Zanuso. She went on to get a PhD in Environmental Design. Following in the footsteps of the grand masters of 20th century design, Raffaella Mangiarotti has a functionalist and rationalist approach to design. In twenty years, she has designed practically everything, studying operating mechanisms. She has designed many electronic devices and appliances, shifting the focus of her work from the performance that the object can achieve to the sense of precise detail and serenity that it can transmit.
